ORCHID BLOOMS INSTALLATION

A proposal for an installation at a light festival, in collaboration with the Studio of Cinematic Architecture. A system of illuminated, addressable tubes were developed that could be assembled into a tensegrity structure. In the configuration shown, the tubes are assembled into ‘blooms’ that display colourways taken from orchids. These orchid patterns could be selected by viewers by means of a touchscreen and then ‘hybridised’ with others to produce new patterns, displayed on further blooms.
