PRACTICE

At Hatterwan Architects, we aim to design spaces which are inventive, yet practical and welcoming. By carefiully combining materials, geometry, and light, we strive to create both characterful and engaging places.

Our design ethos is defined by close collaborations with our clients where each process begins with us listening to our clients’ aspirations. Each design then results in an individual, custom-made response which is site and client specific.

Formed in 2010 by Mark Hatter and Klara Wan, this London based practice offers architectural, interior design, conservation and project management services. Our work embodies high-end residential projects in the UK and abroad, ranging from private one-off homes and apartments to hospitality projects including as bars and restaurants.

Mark graduated from the Bartlett School of Architecture in 2003, and qualified as an architect in 2007. As well as being a practicing architect, Mark enjoys teaching and is a longstanding design tutor at the University of Greenwich.

Klara Wan RIBA

Singapore-born Klara Wan, MArch studied at National University of Singapore (NUS) and Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), graduating in 1999. Prior to forming Hatterwan Architects, she worked at several prolific practices including Boyarsky Murphy Architects, Robert Dye Architects and Child Graddon Lewis. Klara has worked across a wide range of sectors with excellent experience in private residential housing and hospitality, where designing one-off homes, and five-star hotels helped honed her focus in providing both creative yet timeless and functional architectural spaces for her clients at Hatterwan Architects.
